Friday Is the New Monday, so what Does that make Monday?

In 2019, An Article called Fridays Are the New Mondays came out by Samantha Zabell in forge.medium.com about Mondays becoming the Epitome of what Mondays have always been known to be. The get back to work, stressful days that are easily used to explain the brain Fog of the day and the need to have a nice beverage when you finally get to leave the office. But how is this happening on a Friday?

As Samantha explained in her article, we have this need to be seen in our jobs in order to maintain the sense of security that we aren’t missing out and potentially losing our jobs because of missing out.

So days are filled with Meetings about nothing and emails that show your actively working all week until you finally hit Friday. And Friday has a to do list that was never tended since it was created on Monday, because again this need to be seen, heard and known as a great employee.

Should we have to continuously Prove our value?

That’s the biggest change that has occurred since generations before us. The Companies are no longer loyal to employees and employees always feel like that aren’t able to keep up with the demand of the new culture created to “collaborate” your days away but leaving little to no time to get actual work done. Making work performance subpair or below. And Employees feeling completely exhausted by the end of the week.

And it doesn’t stop there. With the companies’ cultures all about getting personal, you are expected to include your personal life into your workdays where they don’t affect the job but they are able to also come into that realm without a second thought in those weekends.

“Oh did you have another soccer game for your daughter this weekend? Would you mind just getting this one thing over to me Saturday as well? I’m so sorry for asking but it would really help out and we have our deadlines.”

Weekends used to mean "you" time, family time and no need to think about work. Now work watches you over social media and includes themselves in your Sunday night dinners, but still expect you to stay on because being off means you aren’t a good employee.

So our Fridays have become Mondays and our Mondays have become another day to keep doing as we are told never getting that break from the prying eyes and never-ending demands of our employers.

And here is the kicker! It’s only gotten worse since the Pandemic.

People are terrified of losing their jobs so they work harder then ever and Employers are LOVING it.

They get to lay off people but claim it was due to Covid, employee more people at lower salaries and keep them working all day and night as they, please.

We have reached a point of no return and the only way to stop this madness to start making laws in the USA to stop it all. Because more and more people are burnt out to the point of it becoming a health risk. This is a much bigger issue.
