Things My Kids Said in 2024 That I’m Still Laughing About
When you spend every single day with two tiny humans, you hear some pretty amazing things. I've been jotting down Shane and Piper's best quotes on my phone because honestly, you can't make this stuff up!
During breakfast one morning, Shane looked at his waffle and announced, "Mom! My waffle is making a RIVER of syrup! It's going to get my WHOLE PLATE!"
Piper, not to be outdone, shouted "I want a river too! Make mine a river too!"
Piper's fashion statements have been particularly entertaining.
While getting dressed: "No, I can't wear that shirt because it's not a twirly shirt and today is for TWIRLING!"
The sibling moments are my favorite. Like when Shane got home from school and Piper ran to the door yelling,
"SHANE! I saved you the red truck ALL DAY and I only played with it a little bit!"
Shane's kindergarten updates are pure gold.
After school: "Mom! I eated my WHOLE lunch next year! And my friend had a dinosaur sandwich!"
One morning Piper watched me getting ready and said, "Mommy your coffee is taking FOREVER. Can I have goldfish while we wait? And toast? And more goldfish?"
During a rainy day, Shane looked out the window and declared, "The rain is being SO loud! It's louder than when Piper screams!"
To which Piper immediately responded by screaming, "NO IT'S NOT!"
Piper's backseat commentary keeps me laughing. On the way to get Shane: "Mom! That truck is GREEN! And that one is GREEN! And that car is... um... GREEN! It's a green day today!"
Getting ready for school usually involves some negotiations. Shane: "Mom! I NEED to wear my Pokemon shirt next year! Because My friend is gonna wear his and we're gonna be TWINS!"
Bedtime brings out the creative excuses. Piper's latest: "But Mom, my feet are still awake! They want to run and run and run!"
While Shane contributed: "I can't go to sleep because my dinosaur needs to know what happens in chapter 2!"
The battle of the colored cups continues daily. Piper: "I want the BLUE cup! No, the RED cup! No, the other blue cup! The BIG blue cup!"
Shane, trying to help: "Piper you can use my green cup and I'll use the blue cup and next year we can switch!"
Shopping trips are always an adventure. In the grocery store, Shane announced to everyone in the cereal aisle: "Those aren't the good kind. The good kind have the TIGER on them. The tiger is the BEST one. Right, Mom? RIGHT?"
And Piper's constant commentary on her brother's school day: "Shane! Did you eat lunch? Did you play trucks? Did you see any dogs? Did you think about me? I eated THREE bananas!"
These tiny humans might drive me crazy sometimes, but they sure keep me laughing. Even if I have to hear about the blue cup versus the red cup debate fifty times a day, or explain that "next year" actually means tomorrow. Their little voices and big personalities make every day an adventure!
